Graded Readers

What Are Graded Readers?

Graded Readers are books of various genres that are specially created for learners of foreign languages. They may be simplified versions of existing works, original stories or books that are factual in nature.

Basically, the same story is taken and then written for the different reading levels. Some publishers use the same level notations as the CEFR – Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (A1 – C2) Many publishers and reading sites have their own level notations.

Why Are Graded Readers Important?

Graded readers are great for people who wish to improve their English communication skills. The best thing about graded readers is that the stories are written for different language levels – which means that no matter if you are a beginning English language learner, advanced, or somewhere in between – there are books out there for YOU!

Graded readers can be bought from many bookstores – online or off. They can also be found in your local library (in most cases). Since graded readers are written in many different languages, make sure you ask for “graded readers in English” when you begin your search.

There are some websites that offer graded readers free of charge, at other sites you have to purchase them.

Why not TAKE ACTION by visiting the sites and picking out a book or two (or three 😎 ) to download?
