First English has been developed specifically for children of pre-school and early primary school age. No reading ability is required. There is an option to display the text of what you hear, and if this is selected, then clicking on the text allows you to hear the words repeated.

There are 60 topics and a range of activities to use these with. Some activities can be used with a large group and a whiteboard. Others are more appropriate for individual pupils at a computer.

The activities can be selected from a picture menu as well as from the main menu bar.

World of Words

German and Spanish.

World of Words is accessible to learners from anywhere in the world as it teaches English words and sentences entirely through pictures. There are 36 topic-based picture screens, each with five activities: two learning activities – “Words” and “Sentences” – and three testing activities – “Quiz”, “Writing” and “Test”.

Help is available in English, French, German, Spanish and Polish. At the end of each session the learner is encouraged to print
out a progress report.

Junior World of Words

World of Words and Junior World of Words are accessible to learners from anywhere in the world as they teach English words and sentences entirely through pictures.

Junior World of Words differs from the complete version in that there are more screens, but each one contains fewer words and has bigger pictures, making it ideal for less able learners. There are 45 topic-based picture screens, each with its own built-in testing of comprehension.

Each screen has three activities: Words, Sentences and Quiz

At the end of each session the learner is encouraged to print out a progress report.
